out-of-the-box-worship-logoOut of the Box Worship Center is a place for regular people to grow together. For those of us who think church is too boring, intimidating, or irrelevant to our already stressed out lives. Our purpose is to launch personal relationships with Jesus Christ in ways that matter. We don’t care who you voted for in the last election, and please, don’t feel the need to pretend about anything. Come exactly as you are. When we say everyone is welcome, we mean it. No matter what your spiritual background or past, we’ll all grow together.

Out of the Box is a member of the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Traditionally, we have emphasized the following.

  • God will comfort, guide, and forgive every person, no matter who they are or what they’ve done.
  • The Bible is the word of God, and the foundation of our beliefs.
  • Jesus, the son of God, died on the cross for all everyone.
  • Serving others and Christian faith go hand in hand.
  • God loves everyone and wants every person to experience the joy, peace, and power of living in relationship with him.
  • People need a community of grace for their spiritual journey—a place where they are loved and accepted before they ever clean up or straighten up.

Pastor: Ronnie Collins

sermons online ronnie g collins.jpgA native to Carroll County, Ronnie has a passion to see hurting people come to know Jesus Christ. His preaching style is laid back, a lifestyle approach with biblical principles you can apply to any stage of your life. Ronnie believes Christians have to demonstrate God’s love to the world, rather than just telling them about it. Ronnie is married to Misty Collins and has 3 sons and 3 grandchildren. Ronnie attended school at Carroll County High School, Wytheville Community College, Liberty University, and Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. Ronnie loves technology and connecting with his church family on Twitter and Facebook. Read his personal blog at or listen to his sermons online.

It’s my dream to have a church where guests feel comfortable and attendees don’t have to think twice about inviting a friend. I want to offer a safe environment where it’s okay to sit back, observe, and enjoy. God has blessed us exponentially at Out Of The Box UMC. We’ve met so many new people and our family has grown tremendously. I am excited about what God has called us to do. I don’t believe we have just                                                                                     been invited to introduce Christ to our entire community, I believe we have been called to it. I can’t wait to see you there. – Ronnie

Associate Pastor: David Payne

David Payne Out Of The BoxBorn and raised in Tazewell County, David moved to the Twin County area in June 1999. David and his wife Tammy have three children: Chris, Conner, and Abigail. They began attending Out of the Box Worship Center in July 2011, where their lives and family were restored. In July 2014, David was appointed Associate Pastor. He has attended Southwest Virginia Community College, Bluefield College, Averett University, and is currently working on his Masters of Divinity Degree at Hood Theological Seminary. David enjoys sports, reading, but most importantly spending time with his family and friends. Connect with David on Facebook.

At Out of the Box Worship Center, I want a place where others can find a real relationship with God. A place where God’s truth, love, and grace is preached each week through practical and real life lessons. A place where everyone understands that we are all broken and that God loves and has a purpose for each person. A place where broken people grow closer to God together, in community. I can’t wait to meet you and see how God will use you to further His kingdom. – David

Worship Leader: Jay Holderfield

Jay Worship.jpgBorn and raised in Carroll County, Jay has been playing guitar since age 14. He has led worship for many years, and has been leading at OOTBWC since it’s launch in January of 2011. Jay teaches history at Carroll County High school and studied at Virginia Tech. He loves anything outdoors; especially fishing and Hokie football. Jay and his wife Suzanne got married in the summer of 2009 and has two daughters, Kate and Tessa.  Connect with Jay on FacebookTwitter, or read his personal blog here.

To me, worship is more than just a service with music, it’s a way of LIFE. The time spent at OOTBWC will challenge us to be the person that God intended we be. It’s my hope that the music and entire service will be relevant to your life and what you’re going through. Come say hi after the service so I can meet you!  – Jay

Children’s Ministry Pastor: Evan Nester

At a very young age, Evan got his call into ministry. He embraced that calling and grew up with the intentions of becoming a Pastor. While in High School, Evan came under the mentor ship of Pastor Ronnie Collins and decided to pursue a career in the Methodist Church. He had the opportunity to serve as a member of the launch team for Out of the Box Worship Center and has seen it grow from its very start. In 2012, Evan graduated from Carroll County High School and just recently graduated from Liberty University with a degree in Bible Studies. His future hopes include getting a Master’s Degree, becoming a Head Pastor, and planting a Church. Aside from this, Evan’s other passions are hiking, watching football, and growing in community with his friends. You can connect with Evan on Facebook or follow him on Twitter.

“It is important that we cultivate an environment in which the next generation can grow in their knowledge of God and that is priority here at Out of the Box Worship Center. With trained staff and volunteers, we are blessed with the opportunity to show children the love of Christ.” – Evan
