Tomorrow evening at 6:30pm we will be having a Worship Service at OOTBWC. Everyone is invited and wanted. Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the 40 days of Lent, not counting Sunday’s. Lent is a time of preparation, it is a time when we remember Jesus 40 days in the wilderness, where he fasted for 40 days, no food and water. It leads up to Easter when Jesus was crucified and raised again to life. Tomorrow night we will talk about some of those things that we can use as tools to bring us closer to God. In Lent, many people give up things for 40 days. Things such as television, soda, tea, etc. Some even go without food for 40 days and that is commendable. I personally want to do something different this year. We are talking about “stuff-a-holics” in our All In Series on Sunday mornings and the fact that we have so much stuff. This year, the 40 days of Lent I am going to gather 1 bag each day to give away. It can be clothing, it can be money, it can be food, it can be anything that you have sitting around that could benefit someone else. Then each day I am going to pray about what person, family, or organization, to give my bag of stuff to. Why don’t you join me? You choose the size of the bag, small or large, your choice. Lets prepare for Easter by getting some physical and spiritual stuff out of our lives. Let’s start by bringing the first bag to worship on Wednesday evening. then we as a church will find people who need it in the next 40 days. Who is with me?
