Election 2012: We’re Praying Backwards

November 6, 2012

jayholderfield

Today is the day!  It’s election day in the U.S. and today, right here on this blog, we are praying backwards.

If you just happened to stumble upon this post, here’s what is happening.  Today, this blog is serving as a prayer wall.  Today we are paying for the future leaders of our country.  But we’re praying backwards.  That means if you plan on voting, )or have already voted) for Governor Romney, your going to pray for Obama, and if you plan on voting, (or have already voted) for Obama, your going to pray for Romney!  If you don’t want to post your prayer for one specifically, pray for BOTH of them!

Sound weird?  It should.  By the world’s standards, Christianity is weird.

No matter what church you go to, no matter if you go to church period, and no matter what your political affiliation is, PLEASE  join us and post your prayer in the comments section below!  So we’re going to use the list below as a “template” for this, but you are definitely not limited to the list!

Here’s what we’re praying for:
We’re are praying for the men that are running for President of our great country.  President Obama, and Governor Romney.

  • Pray for their wives.
  • Pray for their children.
  • Pray for their health both physical and emotional.
  • Pray for the people who are around them every day.
  • Pray blessings over their lives.
  • Pray that these men would grow in their Faith, and in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Here’s what we’re not praying for:

  • Politics

There you have it.  It’s that simple.

Help spread the word today! Blog, Tweet, Facebook, talk about it in the coffee shop you go to, in the line at Wal-Mart, at the gas station, at work…tell people what is happening here and lets pray so hard for these two men they can feel it! #prayingbackwards

Leave your prayers in the comments below!

Lets do this thing!

    “Dear Lord,
As we reach this day of decision for this country my prayer is that we as a country are in your will. We know that you are in control Lord and we can do nothing lest it be through you. Lord I pray that if Barrack Obama gets elected again that you will convict him to be the best he can be for this country, and that he will focus and you and allow you to lead him in his decision making.”
Doesn’t feel weird really but it is backwards! I will be voting as a North Carolinian for the first time after voting in Va. since I turned 18 and that feels weird my friends.

God this morning I pray for these candidates who are running for president of our great country. This morning I pray for their wives that they would be strong women of faith, and that they would stand by their husband no matter the outcome of the election. Today I pray for their children. There is so much negative attention in the media that we know the children see. I pray that their opinions of their fathers would never change because of the media. Both of these men are under so much stress, I pray that you would keep them strong emotionally and physically and that the people they surround themselves with would help them make decisions that are best for our country. Lord I pray that you would bless the lives of these men more than ever. I pray that their faith in you would be stronger than it ever has been and that they would run to you more than ever before. God lastly I pray for our country and that no matter which man wins, that man turns to you when making decisions for our country.

Lord, I know you are in control and I trust in you. I am praying for Obama, Lord, that you will pour your Holy Spirit out on him. I am praying that he will turn to You, Lord, and put his trust in You. I am praying that if this man is the man you want to lead this country, that he will humble himself and ask for your guidance on every decision he makes. I also pray for every citizen of the United States today. I pray that you will move in the hearts of every person that is voting today, so that your will be done today and every day. Lord help us all! In the precious name of the Lamb of God I pray. Amen..

Dear Lord, I pray for all of the candidates who are running for office and are giving of themselves and their families to lead our nation during times of turmoil as well as during times of peace. I pray you will shower each of these men and their families with your Holy Spirit as this day progresses. I pray that they maintain their faith in you and you cotinue to guide whoever is the winner in making decisions that are in the best interests of each and every citizen in this country. I pray we all remember these men are imperfect human beings just as I am and that they need your guidance and love each and every day. Please be with each of us and I ask that no matter the outcome of this single day, we all keep moving forward and caring for our neighbors in the greatest nation in the world. Amen.

    Dear Lord,
I pray for presidential candidate Mr. Romney, our president; Mr. Obama, and their families. I pray that you bestow your wisdom, guidance, and compassion needed during these difficult times. I also pray for us all; even those I have argued politics with. I pray that we all find a common ground that promotes those things you wish to accomplish through us. I pray that our world unite despite our differences. I pray that you watch over us all; not just today but always. Amen

It’s getting close to the end!! Right now I’m praying that reactions after the election results are announced won’t be filled with hate — but peace in trusting that God is sovereign and in control. And that we will see the winner AND the loser through God’s eyes and treat them as a child of our creator!
