Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes – Dates are reserved for us to travel to Boone and Charlotte this fall/winter to help pack shoe boxes. Scouts – Boy Scouts are meeting at FUMC Hillsville Fulcher St on Thursdays beginning 9/8 from 7:30-8:30pm. Cub Scouts are meeting on Thursdays from 6:30-7:30pm. Contact the church office to get in touch with the Scout Master.
Women’s Bible Study – based on the book “To Live is Christ: The Life and Ministry of Paul” by Beth Moore begins Thursday, 9/8 and will run through 11/17 @6pm at FUMC Hillsville. Contact Kim Harrison for more information: firstname.lastname@example.org or 276-728-2654.
Family Camp at Camp Dickenson – Fri – Sun 9/9 – 9/11 – A weekend of resting, eating, fellowship and worship by the river. Contact Judy Beasley at email@example.com for more info or if you plan to attend.
Art Ministry – Saturday, 9/10 at 1pm at OOTBWC. We will be working on shoebox items and Grandparent’s Day Cards. Wear old clothes and bring a snack donation for kids who don’t have snack at school.
Concert for Christ – FUMC Missions and Outreach will sponsor a Christian Concert on Sat, 9/10 from 6pm- 9pm at CCHS Auditorium. There will be a variety of Bands; Highway 52, Ashes in the Attic, Soul Seekers and The Citizens. Volunteers are needed! Also, needed are cookies, brownies or any snack item that can be bagged and sold individually and also canned drinks. Baptism & Picnic – Sunday, 9/11 at 2pm at Camp Dickenson. Bring a covered dish to share. Contact Pastor Ronnie if you want to follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized on this day.
Financial Peace University – This is a biblically based finance class to help you get out of debt!
This year we will offer two classes one on Tues Evenings and the other on Wed Evenings. You need only pick the one that suits you best. There will also be a class for kids on Tues Evenings.

Nursery – for infants to 3 years old
Sunbeam Choir – 6pm – ages 4 through 1st grade with Vivian McBride and Kim Harrison.
Choir Partners – 6pm – grades 2 – 5 with Cindy Jackson. Both Children’s Choirs will participate in the program, “The Big Picture”, which explores new adventures with high energy songs and games while making and playing instruments. There will also be Art Classes led by Amy Jackson & Mildred Palmer & Drama Classes lead by Terri Dunevant & Leona Brown. Tweens – 6pm – grades 6 – 9 will participate in Art and Drama and will be led in activities by Kathleen and Cary Simms.
Youth – 6pm – grades 10 – 12 will meet at OOTB Youth Center on Main Street in Hillsville. Center opens at 5:00pm. Led by Pastor Ronnie Collins, Jeff & Terry Scott and Greg & Lori Huff.
Adults – Pastor Ty’s Bible Study – 6 pm – This study, on the writings of Paul, will be held in the sanctuary at the Fulcher Street Location.
United Methodist Women Annual Conference – Anyone who would like to attend the UMW Annual Conference at Lake Junaluska on September 17 & 18, please contact Shirley Uber (728-7693) or Vivian McBride (728-2212). Our UMW Unit meeting is scheduled for September 13 at 6:00 p.m. at FUMC Hillsville.
Children’s Ministry Meeting – Special invitation: for those called to serve the children! Get Outta Your Seat Ministry – is collecting gently used/new clothes, shoes & toys to be given out to people in our community on Sat, 9/24. Fall Festival – Sat, 10/15 from 3-5pm at FUMC Hillsville, Fulcher Street – Crafts, pumpkin painting, hotdogs, popcorn, bobbing for apples, face painting and a visit from Joy the Clown. Volunteers are needed. Contact Leona Brown at email@example.com if you can help.

Community Food Pantry – at FUMC Hillsville needs Boxed Cereals & Mac n’ Cheese, Beef Stew, Instant Potatoes, Personal Hygiene Items for Travelers, & Disposable Diapers (all sizes). The Community Food Pantry distributes food each week on Tuesdays from 10am – 12noon and Thursdays from 12 noon – 2pm. Volunteers are needed for the pantry and to send thank you notes for contributions.
