January has been “A Fresh Start” for everyone at FUMC Out Of The Box Worship Center.
God says through Isaiah in Chapter 43:10, “I want to do a new thing.” Well, God has done a new thing in Carroll County, Va in Out Of The Box Worship Center this year. During the month of January, we opened our hearts and minds to the realization that we are God’s original masterpieces; we are not useless and God can use people like us to further His kingdom here on earth.
We looked at “God Sized Dreams” and examined our own dreams to see if they are the same as God’s dream for our lives. God’s dream is for us to become like His son Jesus Christ; to come back into that image of Him before it was broken by sin. God wants to shape us into His image and this is His dream for our lives.
During our third Sunday together, we looked at who defines success. Does the world define your success or does Jesus define your success? Jesus said in Matthew, that we were to become a servant. That he came to be a servant and that we were to become like Him.
In week four, we talked about “Getting Past Your Past”. We talked about Paul and how Paul started out as Saul destroying the church and destroying those people who followed after God. Then God gave Saul a revelation. God changed his name to Paul and then Paul went on to be the one who wrote a large portion of the New Testament.
On the last Sunday in January, we had record attendance at Out Of The Box Worship Center with 171 present that morning and I praise God for each and every one of you.
We looked at John chapter 8 verses 1-11 and talked about the woman caught in adultery and we each found our own place in this story. There were three people represented in this story. You have the woman who has been caught in adultery, you have the religious leaders who wanted to condemn her and you have the man who hasn’t been caught. So, we took a close look at our lives and all the things that we have done and thought about which character we were in this story.
The one who has been caught?
Am I the one who points the finger at those who have been caught?
Or am I the one who just hasn’t been caught yet?
At the end of the service, we had a special blessing watching “Cardboard Testimonies” presented by some of the people of Out Of The Box Worship Center. What a powerful message it was to see the before and after written on the front and back of the cardboard for each individual and I thank you for having the courage to stand up in front of others and share your testimony. God is at work here at Out Of The Box Worship Center .
John 10:10 in The Message says this, “A thief is only there to steal and to kill and destroy. I came so that they can have real and eternal life, a more and better life than they ever dreamed of.”
