Wythe District Annual Lay Servant/Lay Speaker Training Event – March 6th & 7th at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Wytheville, Virginia. The Book of Discipline encourages all church Lay Leaders to become Certified Lay Servants which they may do by attending a Basic Course plus one additional advanced course. This training is not just solely for Lay Speakers (or those who wish to speak from the pulpit).  They will also cover topics such as Leading Worship and the Heritage of the United Methodist Church which would be beneficial to anyone in a leadership position in the church. This year, they are also offering a Youth Basic Class and encourage all interested District youth to participate in this training. Youth Information and Registration Form.

Sisters in Service Contemporary Retreat for Women – March 14th & 15th in Sevierville, TN sponsored by the Holston Conference.  This Retreat is for women of any age, but the worship style is contemporary with an inspirational speaker who addresses the demands women face in their lives today.  It also includes some free time for shopping in Pigeon Forge.  There is more information at the Information Desk in the Lobby. Mission Trip Opportunity – We are putting together an Adult Inner-City Mission Trip to Atlanta GA, May 22nd – 24th to work with the Homeless. We will share the Gospel with them, listen to their stories and share our stories with them. We are planning on handing out Comfort Kits to the homeless and need donations of supplies for these kits. Here is a list of supplies needed.  Contact Pastor Ronnie at ronnie24317@yahoo.com  or our Minister to Young Adults, Amanda Terry amandakterry1@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Food Pantry Drive – OOTBWC will be collecting Food Donations to contribute to the Community Food Pantry at FUMC Hillsville. To participate, bring an item from the list below and place in the marked box in the lobby. Also, cash donations are always appreciated—simply write “Food Pantry” in the memo of your check and place it in the offering. The following is a list of needed items: Oatmeal or cereal, macaroni & cheese, peanut butter, beef stew, canned spaghetti sauce, NO GLASS JARS & pasta, soup, canned green beans, peas or corn, dry rice, pinto beans. Any questions, contact Margaret Martin, mjmrdh@embarqmail.com or call 276-733-8432.

Change for a Dollar – Give one dollar each Sunday to the “Change for a Dollar Missions Fund”. The funds will be used to help transients, homeless, addicts, anyone who needs a little help. There will be a small envelope in the bulletin packet to use to put your dollar in and place it in the offering.

Youth – meet on Wednesday evenings from 8pm – 9pm for Bible Study at the Youth Center on Main Street.

Our Youth are going on a Youth Mission trip to St. Simons Island in GA July 6-10 need donations towards the trip. There is a display in the Lobby. Mark your check, Youth Mission Trip. Contact Tammy Payne at daveandtammy@centurylink.net if you have any questions.

 Children’s Ministry Life Groups available on Sunday mornings at 10am:

Nursery – Crib Nursery is located in the lobby of the worship center for babies. Nursery is available during both morning worship services for parent use.

Toddler Nursery – “Peeps” is located upstairs and is for toddlers up to Kindergarten. Toddler Nursery is available at 10am

3rd – 5th Grade – “Seeds of Faith” – led by Brenda Harmon & Misty Collins. This group meets in the kitchen area upstairs at Out Of The Box Worship Center at 10am. Contact:  Brenda Harmon brendag274@gmail.com.

Children’s Church/Loft for K – 2nd Grade – meets during the 10am service upstairs over the worship center. Contact Peggy Burcham at    peggy.burcham@dss.virginia.gov or 276-733-6152.

Crafters for Christ – This is a group that meets regularly and makes special gifts, cards and service projects for others. If you like doing crafts, knitting, crocheting or sewing and want to get together with this group, contact Cindy Brown at browniebitesofwoodlawn@gmail.com or Bonny Webb at bdwebb@ccpsd.k12.va.us.

Outings for Men – if you have any ideas or suggestions for outings and fun activities for the men at OOTBWC or if you would like to join in on the fun, contact William Clower at walhammer@comcast.net. There is a suggestion box on the table in the lobby. March 14th, the men will be going bowling. There is a sign up sheet at the information desk in the Lobby. March 27th – 29th the Men will be going to the Outlaw Trails of West Virginia. We will have groups leaving Friday morning and Friday afternoon. If you have an ATV and love to play in the mud this is the trip for you. There will be some traveling with us who will have Side by Sides for those who would like to go but don’t have access to an ATV, you can still get in on the fun. If you like to tent camp, pull a camper, or stay in a bunkhouse. Cost and more details coming soon.
